Abstract

The evolution of processor architecture has undergone a significant transformation in the last decade, driven by the demand for higher computational efficiency, better security, and integration with Artificial Intelligence (AI). The ARMv9 architecture, introduced in 2021, represents a major leap from ARMv8, bringing substantial improvements in energy efficiency, AI performance through Scalable Vector Extension 2 (SVE2), and data protection via the Confidential Compute Architecture (CCA). This research presents a narrative review of the current advancements and challenges in ARMv9, focusing on its role in shaping modern computing paradigms across diverse environments such as mobile, edge, and cloud devices. The study synthesizes findings from recent literature, technical whitepapers, and industry reports published between 2021 and 2025, to provide a comprehensive overview of how ARMv9 enables secure, energy-efficient, and AI-driven systems. The analysis results indicate that ARMv9 achieves significant progress in reducing power consumption while boosting computational performance for AI workloads, making it a crucial foundation for the future of sustainable and intelligent computing.
